Laser Beam Summary Table
A table that summarizes the laser beam parameters can be displayed by selecting the View | Laser Beams Summary menu item, or clicking the Show Laser Summary Table button on the toolbar . For each laser beam, the table contains:
- General beam properties:
- the cluster to which it belongs
- beam ID number
- whether the beam is on or off (if off, the contents of that beam have a light gray background)
- polar and azimuthal angle of its port
- Beam pointing parameters
- reference coordinate system used for pointing
- TCC, if pointing at Target Chamber Center
- D toward <PortID>, if specifying distance toward a port
- Coordinate system name, if using target chamber or a target component coordinate system
- geometry (Cartesian, cylindrical, spherical) used to specify location of pointing (the reference point)
- location of reference point (Pt X-1, -2, and -3)
- (x,y,z), if Cartesian
- (r,z,φ), if cylindrical
- (r,θ,φ), if spherical
- Value in Pt X-1 is D, if specifying distance toward a port
- offset of focus from reference point
- beam pointing position in the Target Chamber coordinate system (Cartesian values)
- Power parameters:
- the power in the beam; if power is specified using time-dependent table values, the maximum power is shown, and its value is prefaced by "T-".
- randomized beam power multiplier value
- Spatial profile parameters:
- spatial profile model (e.g., Uniform, Custom Supergaussian, OMEGA SG4 DPP)
- spot size, R0 [for elliptical beams, both the major and minor radius are shown]
- rotational angle of minor axis (for elliptical beams only).
An example laser beams summary dialog from an OMEGA simulation is
shown below.

Additional features of the Laser Beams Summary Dialog include:
- Data from table can be exported to a text file (comma-separated values format; *.csv). Files with this format can be edited with common spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel), and imported into VISRAD. Data shown in the table is written to the file in the order displayed in the table.
- Beams can be sorted by clicking the header of any column.
- Parameters for one or more beams can be edited by selecting with mouse:
- To edit a single beam, double-click on the beam.
- To edit properties of multiple beams, first select the beams, then right-click with mouse to display options in popup menu.
- Unused beams (i.e., with power off) can be hidden or shown.
- A splitter is provided to facilitate simultaneous viewing of widely separated columns.
